Plantable Greeting Cards
What is a plantable card?
Plantable paper is a biodegradable, seed-infused paper embedded with wildflower seeds. When planted in soil and watered regularly, the paper naturally breaks down and grows into wildflowers—turning your message into something living.
Each sheet is handmade from recycled paper, so slight variations in thickness and colour are part of its natural character and charm.
How can I plant the card?
Place your seed paper on gently pressed soil, soft enough to let roots grow. Cover it with a light layer of soil and give it a generous drink of water.
Keep it moist, keep it in the light, and in about 7–10 days, you’ll start to see the first signs of life emerging.
You can watch video on how to plant the cards here
Do you make the paper by yourself?
The plantable paper itself is not made in-house. It is thoughtfully produced in Winnipeg, Canada by a women-owned, B Corp–certified company that shares our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices.
Each design is then created and finished by me in British Columbia.
What kind of wildflowers are included in the wildflower blend?
- Bird’s Eye
- Clarkia
- Black Eyed Susan
- Catchfly
- Snapdragon
- Sweet Alyssum
The paper contains only the highest-quality mix of wildflower seeds. All of our seeds are tested for purity and meet the high standards of the United States Department of Agriculture and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. They are NON-GMO (genetically modified organism) and non-invasive plants for North America.
What is the shelf life of seed paper?
For the best chance of growth, plant your seed paper within two years. While it may still sprout after that, germination rates naturally decrease over time. Keeping it in a cool, dry place will help protect the seeds until you’re ready to plant.
Are your cards tree-free?
Yes, my plantable greeting cards are made from 100% recycled paper. The regular cards are also printed on 100% recycled paper, so whichever you choose, you’re making an eco-friendly decision.
When is the best time to plant the cards?
Spring is a natural time to plant, especially in places where the soil stays workable. In colder climates, where winter freezes the ground for months, fall can be a better moment to plant and let nature take its course.
If you prefer, seed paper can also be planted indoors at any time of year—just give it a sunny spot by a window and a little care.
